Beware of the uptick in robberies along Roscoe Blvd. and take precautions. Report any suspicious activity to the St. Johns County Sheriff.  Lock all vehicles and keep your garage door closed if unattended.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!

Items of interest:

  • Please obey all traffic signs within Odom’s Mill; the safety of the residents is paramount and especially with school back in session. We all need to be extra careful, stop at all stop signs and drive within the posted speed limit of 25mph.

  • It was brought to the Board’s attention that the tree branches at Odoms Mill Blvd. and Mill Cove Lane were hanging so low that traffic from large vehicles regularly hit them. The Board had a tree surgeon investigate and he agreed that the tree branches needed trimming. The risk was that if the branch received a solid hit, then more damage could be done to the tree as well as personal property. Willis Tree Service will be trimming this tree as well as one on Odoms Mill and Mill Stream. The trees are healthy and just needed the removal of low-hanging branches.

  • Just as a note of information, the trees in question are live oaks and they are the hardiest type of tree found in Florida. They grow in a single or in multiple directions and their foundation is their trunk and root structure. The trees in question pose no hazard from their immense size and presence over the roadway. Concern should exist when soft soil or voids are found at the base of the tree or perhaps a sudden change in the roots visible above ground. Please contact May Management is this condition exist with a tree adjoining common property.

  • REMINDER that our lake is being treated regularly for toxic algae bloom, however we can help by limiting the runoff of lawn fertilizers and grass clippings into our storm system and street gutters. The strict use of time-release fertilizer is also essential to controlling the algae and preventing an unsightly lake.

  • The issue of the Mill Stream cul-de-sac, as a parking and child drop off point for the local elementary and middle school, has been brought before the Board both, pro and con. The Board is looking into a solution that both protects this valuable community asset and provides safety for the residents along Mill Stream. The primary issue is speeding down Mill Stream and unattended vehicles parked in the cul-de-sac area. Until a solution is reached, please be considerate of the property of other residents and do not block access to property in this area.

  • A special thanks to the residents that attend and offer comments at the monthly Board meetings. All residents are encouraged to attend. Better yet, get in involved in one of the various committees that provide the Board with guidance and solutions.

Thank you,
